Who is Emmett Shear? Meet OpenAI's New CEO.

The board of OpenAI has hired former Twitch CEO and co-founder Emmet Shear as the AI startup's new interim CEO.

The move comes amid calls from the company's investors to reinstate Sam Altman as the company's CEO.

Shear is the co-founder of Twitch, the popular live-streaming platform for gamers.

Shear has a background in computer science and has been involved in the gaming industry for over a decade.

He co-founded Twitch in 2011 and served as its CEO until 2019.

Emmett was appointed as a part-time advisor to companies at Y Combinator, a startup run by Sam Altman, from 2014 to 2019.

According to a Bloomberg report, Shear has links to the effective altruism movement, which is sceptical about the risks posed by artificial intelligence.
